Planning for the future

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has produced a very useful booklet –  Planning for the future and emergency planning. (PDF) This is a guide for families, carers and friends of mental health service users.

Produced by the trust with a group of carers, including Meriden’s Carer Consultant Peter Woodhams, this booklet looks at one of the main concerns of carers – what would happen to the person I care for if something happens to me?

The booklet provides practical information about the things carers and families need to think about when looking to the future, as well as thinking about emergency planning should it be needed.

It includes:

  • How to start the planning process
  • Help with planning
  • Making financial plans
  • Emergency planning
  • Useful checklists

You can download the booklet ‘Planning for the future and emergency planning’ here (PDF)
