Workstreams: Acute and Inpatient Services
Special Interest Group for In-patient Services
The group consists of staff, carers and service users representing in-patient services across the West Midlands who are interested in working with families and carers. The main aim of the group is to improve the experience for carers when their loved one accesses acute services.
The group has been identifying issues that are specific to in-patient settings and which need to be considered in order to achieve successful implementation of family work in acute settings. The group has developed tools and training packages to support family work within in-patient services, as well as considering the roles of crisis and home treatment services and the importance of involving carers and family members in the acute pathway.
